Absentee Ballots Are Available 30 Days Before Each Election
Deadline for obtaining absentee ballots by mail is noon the Saturday before the election. The office of the Board of Elections is open from 8:00am until 4:30pm Monday thru Friday and the Saturday before the election until noon.
Mail request must include:
  • Wayne County Address and Mailing Address for Absentee Ballot (if different).
  • Reason for voting absentee.
  • Signature of the voter for which the Absentee Ballot is requested.
  • If requesting an Absentee Ballot for a Primary Election, be sure to designate which party ballot you prefer.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE APPLICATION
 FOR ABSENTEE VOTER'S BALLOT  FORM
    Use of this form is optional.  Application must include name, voter residence address, reason for absence from polls, applicant's signature, election for which the ballots are requested, and if primary ballots, voter's party affiliation.

    An application by mail must be received by the Board of Elections by noon on the third day before the election. Applications for persons who are hospitalized by a medical emergency will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on election day.

    Voted ballots must be delivered to the Board of Elections in person, by mail, or a near relative not later than the close of polls. Overseas ballots must be postmarked no later than election day and received by the board no later than 10 days after the election or 20 days after the presidential primary election.

    If you request an absentee ballot, you will not be allowed to vote or turn in your ballot at the polling place on election day.
